crop top and skirt set
Fit Issues I encountered:
- Needed additional contouring in the bust/waist area due to the empire waist.
- Solution: Take in the bust dart at the waist to fit snug across the cropped waist.
Drindl Style dress with puff sleeves
Fit Issues I encountered:
- Skirt fit has too much bulk at the waistline gathers.
- Solution: Slimmed down the waistline gathers bulk by reducing the amount of fabric being gathered by 25%.
- Skirt Length is too short. Skirt falls above the knee and should fall just below the knee.
- Solution: Add an additional 4 inches to the hem of the skirt.
- Skirt shape is more of a circle skirt than an A-line as intended.
- Solution: Reduce the hem circumference to match the waist circumference. The equal fullness once gathered at the waist creates an a-line shape that is intended.
Swing Coat
Fit Issues I encountered:
- Princess Seam should hit lower in the armhole.
- Solution: Re-work the bodice princess seam on each side so that the seam starts under the armhole notch rather than above it.
- Sleeves are too wide, the sleeve should be a slim fit and the bell should be subtle.
- Solution: Contour a 25% deeper curve into the underarm seam.
- Bow is too bulky in the gathered area.
- Solution: Slim down the gathers in the bow by reducing the amount of fabric being gathered by 25%.

Draping a Jacket with A notch collar
Fit Issues I encountered:
- Bust dart is too pointy.
- Solution: Back off bust dart by additional 1/2" from apex.
- Lapel slightly more curved than intended in the design.
- Solution: Straighten out lapel curve starting from where it falls on the bust to the end of the roll line at the waist.
- Hem length is too short. Hem falls just above the hip and should fall just below the hip as intended in the design.
- Solution: Add an additional 4" to the hemline.
Draping a Bias dress
Fit Issues I encountered:
- Open back needs extra support to keep dress from falling off.
- Solution: criss cross the back straps to hold the dress securely on the body as the body moves, sits, etc.
- Underarm dips too low and can be unflattering for the armpit area.
- Solution: back straps criss cross around from the front and meet the fabric on the back of the dress under the armpit. This will hold the dress up in the front underarm area to cover that area well.
